    Post Runtime Error in Vista

Hi, I've downloaded Boxee 0.9.12.6570 twice now, so it probably wasn't a problem during downloading, and it installs fine. The problem occurs when I try and run Boxee once installed. It gives me this error message:

    Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library

    Runtime Error!
    Program: C:\Program Files\Boxee\BOXEE.exe
This application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual way.
Please contact the application's support team for more information.

On clicking OK it gives me the "Boxee has stopped working" error box.

I have tried running it in compatibility mode for XP SP2, but to no avail.
Anyone have any idea what I could do please?

Have you uninstalled any previous versions of Boxee? I was getting the same error until I realized I had the old copy still installed.

@Notorious J.E.W: It was a fresh installation, and just in case I uninstalled and reinstalled, and I still get the same error.

@marcel: I'd be happy to provide logs, but I am unsure where they are created/stored. Should I be looking at at http://forum.boxee.tv/showthread.php?t=377 ?

    Default Strange username ?

Do you have any strange signs in your username ? I have a Norwegian "ĺ" I believe is causing the runtime error. The annoying thing about Vista is you cannot simply change the username account: The C:/users/ foldername will remain unchanged. Some people on the net claim the only way is to copy the whole user folder to a new folder and then delete the old one. Testing now ...

    Smile Runtime error SOLVED

As mentioned above, I used to have a strange sign in my Vista user name. I have reset the user to a name with no strange signs (in my case the Norwegian letter "ĺ".

I only had one user. I created a new user and logged on, deleted the old one but selected "keep user files".

I am now able to launch Boxee without the runtime error.

Warning: Changing te username is not for the weak-harted, I strongly reccomend to create a proper back-up. Simply renaming the user name does not change the folder name under c:\users, and renaming this folder is not allowed.

    Default Great

Messing around with the user account name has taken up a lot of my precious time.

However, the first impression of Boxee is very good !!!
