    Hi,

Opensubtitles seems to be back but not in boxee...

    Any ideas ?

It seems that opensubtitles has been very inconstant in the last couple of weeks. Three out of four times it won't work at all in boxee.
Boxee's team should really consider an alternative - or perhaps changing its timeout before it gives the "connection failed" error in the application.

    +1 for me.

It's one of reason why i'm using boxee. An easy integration to get the corresponding subtitles.

    Hi Marcel,

Tried again today and the issue is still there ('connection failed') while opensubtitles is back and working.

No way to get from Boxee Dev team a patch to correct the situation ?

WHat is wrong with the request made by Boxee ?

    Thanks
    Cedric

    OpenSubtitles has disabled the API:

"for couple of days we have to shut down XML-RPC. It is caused by overloaded servers (on 3 webservers we got now is load around 20), so neither website and XMLRPC (which uses EVERY program) was down. "
    (from their forum)

this means you can still uset he website, but not the API. I don't think O.S. would like Boxee to "get around" this.

Seems O.S. is suffering from its own popularity (like they mention 1000 EUR/month on hosting costs), see their forums for more details.

maybe it would be better to use several subtitle databases ?

    many people recommend http://www.addic7ed.com/

    p.s. want subtitles back...
