CNN Live

I know that there is already a CNN section, but I can't find anything for the live video feed - http://www.cnn.com/video/?iref=videoglobal. There's a link on top of the page that takes you to a live feed, mostly out of Asia. It's very useful, at least in my opinion.

Would it be possible to have that added somehow?

I'm pretty new to the whole Boxee setup, and have yet to delve into how it could actually be done.

I would also love to see support for CNN Live added to Boxee. Really the only function that boxee doesn't have, is live news.

Hopefully either the CNN app can be altered to include CNN Live, or another app can be built to feel the market need.

I have it built into my NewAddict app. I'm working to get it moved into the main Boxee repository, but for the time being you can add the app by following the instructions here:

This would be perfect, but it doesn't seem to work on an ATV. it brings up a screen asking you to hit yes, but there's no way to hit yes.

Here's a picture I took of the screen, the green spots are from the camera.



Any ideas? This would be perfect if I could get it running.

Got the same error on windows I wonder if installing what the popup asks you if you want helps. I will try it out. There is also multiple live feeds are you going to incorporate all of them?

Installing that plugin in mozilla helped and now it works like a charm!

So after digging around in CNN's thousands of lines of Javascript for this page, it looks like it skips the optional "Octoshape" install on MacOS ... I think (trying to get a grasp of all of the related files is like untangling spaghetti). So I guess all other platforms can't get to the video. I'll keep digging to see I can find a way around this, but in the interim it looks like Jendabom's solution might work, except perhaps on AppleTV.

RE: other streams. I didn't know there were other streams. I added them so anyone that can get past the Octoshape thing can watch them.

If you figure out how to bypass the Octoshape plugin for ATV users can you post in this thread so I'll know?

ok i got a REALLY easy fix for this.

go to cnn.com on that computer and click on their live feed. when the message comes up to install the software click YES (i know Octoshape sucks but what can you do). After it installs it will work perfectly in boxee.

props to circa1978 for an awesome app! now all we need is an iheartradio app...
