    Default Video User Interface Ideas

For me, Boxee is all about watching TV shows and movies I download from the Internet or rip from my DVDs. This means I spend most of my time in the "Video" section of Boxee.

I really like the ability to change view-types and sort order.

Since this area lists all the indexed content, I'd like to see better ways to group and manage the content. There's already a logical grouping for "Internet video". I'd like to have the ability to group for genre or type (movie, TV, video podcast).

I think the "My Sources" could be moved to the navigation bar with menu and options. A search option on here would be great too.

I am anxiously waiting to see the new version.

Curios to know how much is UI enhancements vs new features vs bug fixes.

    Default "go back"

I've just started playing with boxee, and I don't see a way to go "up" --- for example:

Video->Movies, now how about TV Shows? No, going left takes me all the way back to the top: reselect Video again, then TV Shows.

Sources is worse, being nested deeper: go into Video->Sources->Local Videos, oh the one I want isn't there, let's go add it. Start all over again: Video->Sources->Add Source->... well, actually, none of the options there actually do anything, but that's another report ;-)

    It's pretty, but cumbersome...

The ESC key or MENU button on the Apple remote will take you back to the previous view.

WOW good news! Looking forward to the new toy in 4 days
A search function would be awesome !

I mean you can do basically do 2 things:

    1. Browse (already works like a charm in Boxee)
    2. Search

Cool support for generic videos *PLEASE*

Are there any plans to support Videos that are not Movies or TV shows? I have a lot of general videos from all types of sources such as interviews and music videos that don't fit the Movies or TV-Show categories. Currently Boxee Beta does ignores these files altogether.

It seems like an oversight to not offer a way to search for *ANY* supported local video media files and offer a display of thumbnails + titles so they can be viewed and played in Boxee. Windows Media Center also makes the distinction between Movie, TV Shows and Videos. Boxee offers this for photos which are (I think) not as important for this type of application as is video. Alternatively, the "Files" section could be improved to show thumbnails of media, etc., without having to manually drill down to each file in order to view / open it.

Is there a third party Boxee app that can do this?

Please vote if you too would like to see this.

BTW - love this software overall and the huge potential it hints at!

    Thanks.

Do you mean Internet content? As Clicker app allows the search by Name, Site (hulu, youtube, PBS, Vimeo), etc.
Or do you mean within your own files?
