Boxee Social Netowrking Ideas
Boxee is doing an amazing job bringing together social networking to media centers. One part of Boxee is becoming the last.fm for film and TV and the other part is providing a very functional multi-platform media center.
I'd like to see the Boxee team continue to innovate and integrate with your website and the Internet.
For example:
1. Roaming profiles that are stored on the Internet. This would allow me to log in into Boxee from a friend's Apple TV and show others content I have already setup (atleast content that resides on the internet).
2. I would like the ability to setup and organize my Internet feeds on your website since it's easier to enter URLs from a web browser.
3. Store and edit user preferences on your website.
4. Store my media library on your website (index, not the content) so I can search and filter and share with others.
5. Email client built in to Boxee to retreive email from my personal imap or POP3 account. This is primarily just to read the message... not to respond since there is no easy text entry on the Apple TV.
6. The ability to send commands to Boxee on my Apple TV from your website (maybe a Boxee mailbox). Commands could be to display a popup message, start a torrent download, remove a local file or more.
7. IM status indicators. Ability to receive IMs. Ability to select a response from a menu of pre-set responses. Ability to send photos from library to others in response to an IM.
8. Find other people interested in the same TV or movies.
9. Discussion groups or user submitted comments for shows or movies.
10. User ratings. Ability to weight people's rating with similar tastes to mine. For example, I'd trust the ratings of people who rated other TV shows and movies similar to how I've rated them.
11. RSS news ticker or news page.
