Slow initial SSH Connection setup with Boxee on ATV

Hi Guys,

is it normal that it takes 30 seconds to connect into boxee via ssh....

it seems really slow to respond...

I can putty in but its slow. winscp will eventually connect. FileZilla on the other hand cant connect via FTP or SFTP it seems to timeout first....

Any Suggestions would be appreciated...

Is all the DNS stuff correctly configured? Can you resolve the names of all the machines involved in the connection everywhere? i.e. can you ping by name the ATV from your PC? Can you ping by name your PC from the ATV?

I dont have a DNS server on my lan nor do I run at etc/hosts file. I was connecting to AppleTV from my PC via IP address. Its setup as static....
Is name resolution key to this process?

Put your PC in the /etc/hosts in the ATV. Maybe the ssh server in the ATV is trying to reverse lookup your PC.

Sorry to resurrect this old thread, but updating your /etc/hosts file with the connecting machine's name & IP does fix the issue of slow SSH logins.

Also, setting up your SSH's Hostname with the actual IP of ATV vs. appletv.local fixes the connection with Putty or any SSH.
