Thumbs down Youtube video lags badly

Just wondering if anyone else is having this problem:

Watching youtube videos for me takes 5-10 seconds to start and the audio starts before the video. Throughout the clip the audio is way off, perhaps 1-5 seconds ahead. Using the sound delay scrollbar doesn't seem to help. Any way of fixing this? It's really annoying.

All other sites may take a few seconds to connect and start, and may be slightly choppy due to the low power laptop, but are reasonably on-time.

    Dell Mini 12 / lpia / Ubuntu 8.04 / 1.3Ghz / 1GB RAM / Good speed cable / same video in Browser works fine

    Red face Same problem

I've been having the same problem. The strange thing is that youtube videos will play with out the lag when you bring up the menu over the video.

I have also been experiencing choppy network feeds. If I play the same network videos with VLC there is no lag. I'm sure what exactly is causing the problem but I'm optimistic the next release will fix these issues.

Smile Odd solutions to jumpy video

I have been playing around with different settings and in the process I hit "\" to bring the screen down and open a browser. When I did this I noticed all the lag was gone and the video was streaming just fine. When I returned to full screen it went laggy again. I have an older video card which I think may be being pushed to its limits in full screen. I'm going to look around some of the scripts and forums and see if I can just turn down the resolution for the full screen aspect ratio.

I'll let you know how it goes - if this does work and such a script line can be edited it would be helpful for a lot of people who use older hardware.

Smile Easy fix - change resolution

I just switched my resolution in settings>>appearance>>Screen>>Resolution from 1080P to 720P.

    No more network lag.
    Youtube videos don't lag.
    General interface functioning more smoothly.
    So far fewer crashes.
A little disappointed I didn't think of this earlier.

Smile This will help you 99% chance!!!

I had the same problem and I SOLVED IT!!! HERE ARE THE STEPS:

    1) Go to Control Panel (Start >> Control Panel/Start >> Settings >> Control Panel)

    2) Go to Display.

    3) Go to Settings Tab.

    4) Go to Advanced.

    5) Go to Troubleshoot.

    6) Move the Hardware Acceleration Tab to the left until the problem is resolved. (Mine is at the 3rd "line")

    HOPE THIS HELPS.
