Anyone else check out this wannabe boxee clone?

Video functionality is pretty good, but it doesn't have any music or social capability.
Although the UI is clearly an "homage" to boxee, it's very ugly IMHO.

I think i is great. Especially considering I am still waiting for a Windows Boxee invite. So I don't really have a choice. Zinc does what is designed to do very well. It has built in Hulu and Netflix, etc, unlike Boxee. I would expect it to eventually evolve to have other features like music and pictures in the future.
I am amazed that Boxee is so Mac oriented, when Windows makes up such a large percentage of total computer users. What happens when an competing app comes along that is open to all Windows users? People are going to flood them, leaving Boxee behind. That is assuming Boxee continues this private invite thing going. If they open it up, I guess it will be a non-issue.

I have a buddy at work who is a developer and would be a real help to the windows boxee alpha testing effort, but he hasn't gotten an invite after signing up for the last two rounds. I recommended that he try out Zinc. Boxee team better get the windows version out to the public real soon now, or someone else is going to eat their lunch.
I am in the windows alpha program, but frankly, Boxee is losing its luster for me. Some of the apps in the app box are really nice, but I still use Hulu and Netflix for 90% of my online viewing. Both are sorely missing from Boxee, so I have had to break down and installed PlayOn on my desktop. Now I can serve out Hulu and Netflix to XBMC on my Linux HTPC and it is wonderful. I still want Boxee to succeed, but I don't have a lot of confidence in the team right now.
I installed zinc as well, It's pretty neat. BUT, you can't compare it to boxee. Zinc is just a browser interface. you can actually install it as a firefox addon package OR as a standalone app. It works decently with a mce remote but still sucks if you try to watch a tv series on netflix, requiring you to use a mouse. It also has to build in keyboard of any type. So, while zinc is a neat little app to use when boxee can't meet my needs, it's nowhere near as clean or plain badass as boxee, BUT, it does give basic netflix and hulu support and since it's just firefox repurposed, netflix plays very well as apposed to the few plugins available for vista media center. anyways, enough blabbing. Just thought you all should know that it's neat, but you can't compare apples to oranges.... apples are better.
