Windowed mode?

I really don't like applications that insist on taking up my entire screen without me saying so!

I want to run Boxee in windowed mode.

I'm running it on a Macbook Pro (maximum res is 1440x900).

When running Boxee on Mac OS X, I can easily select a "windowed" resoltion. But Ubunt udoesn't give me an option for this under settings>appearance.

Is it possible to run Boxee in windowed mode under Ubuntu 8.10? If so, how?

Hitting the "\" key (same as the pipe key) switches to windowed mode, perhaps there's a command line flag that does it from the start.

Thanks very much for the tip!

However, its seems VERY buggy.

It doesn't draw it in its own window that can be moved around, though it does allow me to switch to a different workspace.

I was really hoping I would be able to use Boxee in the same manner as I do OS X. This Ubuntu version definitely feels behind the OS X build.

You have to disable compiz. I have a switcher on my taskbar that will switch between compiz and metacity; it's very handy.

sudo apt-get install fusion-icon

There is!

1) Modify the shortcut.
Right click the "Boxee" shortcut and select "Properties"
2) Add command line flag.
On the "Command" field add two "\" pipe key characters.

The command field should look like this:
