Default Can not connect to hard drives attached to Airport Extreme

    Hi,

I have my boxee box connected via LAN to my HP ProCurve switch. I also have my Airport Extreme connected to that switch. While I can access the internal hard drive from the MacMini that is also connected to the HP switch, I can not access the USB hard drives that are connected to the Airport Extreme. I can connect to this USB hard drives from my MacBook Pro, no problem there.

    Any suggestions?

    Regards

    MacRadge

P.S. I checked identify with account on the airport extreme. There is also no option to have no password.

If I remember correctly, I had to actually download an older version of the Airport Utility (v5.6) in order to get the options needed for disk sharing. The newest version of Airport Utility does not seem to have these options anymore. In v5.6, you have an option:
"You can also allow guests to connect to AirPort disks without a password.
AirPort Disks Guest Access: Read Only"
Note that 5.6 does not install easily on Mountain Lion, so if that is what you have, you need this workaround: https://discussions.apple.com/thread...art=0&tstart=0

Thanx a lot steve30000. That works and I get access now with Guest Access enabled. I still have to figure out why SMB access works and AFP does not (I cann see my DH and the files but I can not play them) but I already got that far.
