Thread: Multiple Issues with Boxee

    Default Multiple Issues with Boxee

I've searched on the forums and found a few of the issues I"m facing are pretty widespread.

    1. Cannot shut off boxxee from menu. I have to do a hard reset EVERY time.

    2. Boxee continually locks up and I"m forced to do hard reset. Usually a result of backing out of apps. I'll try and backout and then the boxee menu locks.

    3. My sources always disappears and I have to access UPNP for them to be accessed again.

    4. When I add repos I have to logout and log back in again to access apps.

I've tried the suggestions on quite a few of these but cannot seem to track down a "found" solution.

Can someone please help me out with this? I use plex on my macbook and never have these issues.

I'm not sure what you mean by "hard reset". The correct way to power off the Box if it won't shutdown from the menu is to use the power button on the Box (on the lowest corner). Hold down the power button until it shuts off. This will not reset the Box at all but it will safely power it off.

    2. Boxee continually locks up and I"m forced to do hard reset. Usually a result of backing out of apps.
Okay, I think I need to know what you mean by "hard reset".

I'll try and backout and then the boxee menu locks.
    This is not normal behavior.

    3. My sources always disappears and I have to access UPNP for them to be accessed again.
    Again, this isn't typical.

Can you post more about your "sources"? How are you adding them (via SMB, AFP, NFS)? What OS are your sources coming from?

    4. When I add repos I have to logout and log back in again to access apps.
After adding a new repository, it can take a bit before the apps will show up. I would leave the Apps section, wait a few minutes and then go back into the repository you just added. The apps should be there.

By hard reset I mean pushing down the power button on the boxee as you described. Isn't this akin to holding down a power button on a computer?

Also I am accessing my files via UPnP from a NAS sever using ext 4 file system. Once I go back to the browse menu and select upnp and my NAS again then my sources work in the browse. It's more of a nuisance than anything as I have to do it every time I want to access a file.

Actually my menu just locked up on me again a few minutes ago and I had to reset via power button. I have to do this about 4-5 times every night.

ex. If I"m watching netflix and want to exit the app to get to main menu. I'll exit and then the boxee freezes at the menu forcing me to reset.

I have tried updating all software as well as factor resets. I bought this about three months ago and I've had these issues since day 1.

What you're doing is simply powering off the box using the manual power button. This not any kind of reset.

Well, you might want to try accessing those files via SMB instead and actually adding them as Local Files so that Boxee can scan and identify them. Then the movies will show up on the My Movies screen and the TV Shows will show up on the My Shows screen.

That's not normal behavior. I would contact D-Link and see about getting that box exchanged via their RMA process.
