Right! I am an audio guy by trade so video is not exactly my forte, so please bare with me.

So I seem to have a few videos with the color space of YUV 4:2:0. I think I have a decent grasp of what that actually means finally, but I noticed that the HDMI mode options for YUV is 4:4:4 and 4:2:2. It sounds like there used to be a 4:2:0 mode, but I can't seem to find it. I noticed that the color is all out of whack (most colors washed out, and some shades of color insanely bright) on videos with 4:2:0 encoding, but every other 4:2:2: and 4:4:4 video looks great.

At first I was thinking it may be calibration, so I went through the process of doing a rough calibration, and while everything else looked even better, there was not much change for the 4:2:0 files.

All that being said I have two main questions:

1) Is there a YUV 4:2:0 mode for HDMI still? And if so how do I set it?

2) Is there a good way (in OS X) to convert 4:2:0 videos to use 4:2:2 or 4:4:4? And if so, how do I do it?

Thanks!
