Default Best Audio settings for 5.1

Hi, I have a sony 5.1 system. It's getting HDMI from Boxee and outputting it to tv via HDMI.

What settings in Boxee are best?

All Oupits seems to work, but shouldn't it be "Digital HDMI" ?

It should be Digital HDMI to get DD/DTS 5.1 on your sony receiver but, your receiver should also have support for DD/DTS & other 5.1 codecs ...

Thanks. Is there any point in ticking all the list of boxes underneath it?

Usually BoxeeBox shouldn't be allowing you to tick/check the options which your receiver doesn't support !! To make sure what audio codecs your receiver suopports check user manual for your receiver and check/tick the boxes accordingly

You're right users have problems with optical of increasing volume all of a sudden and HDMI has issue of drop-outs only in Dolby TrueHD, DTS-HD and other high bitrate audio codecs. HDMI should be fine for DD,DTS & other 5.1 codecs !!

yes zero issues with HDMi and legacy audio. Last night I watched the Hunger Games rip with the DD audio track on one of my Boxee Boxes. There were zero audio dropouts.

Can I also ask what "sound mode" on the 5.1 people use?

    dts neo6?
    prologic II?
    multi directional?

AFAIK the dts neo6, prologic II, multi directional should be required if you're playing a video with stereo (2 channel) audio, these would upconvert that audio to 5.1 surround. In that case I usually go for DTS Neo 6 while using NF on BB
