    Default Volume level too low

    Hi,

When I started using the Boxee Box months ago, I noticed that its volume level was much lower (maybe half) than the rest of the devices connected to my TV (same happened with an older TV). I'm not talking about the volume control through the remote which, in my case, is always set to max.

Not a big issue, but I don't like having to change my receiver volume every time I switch from Boxee to another device (or a TV program). I'm 100% sure it's not a receiver or TV problem.

Any way to fix it? Is there anything I'm missing?

    My setup is:
    • All devices are connected to my TV via HDMI, and audio is sent from my TV to a receiver.
    • On Boxee Box, audio output is set to Digital (HDMI), and all the other options except the "Control volume playback" are unchecked (my receiver is plain Stereo -no Dolby, etc.-)

    Good to know.

Is it software or hardware related? Because seeing this issue has been there for a while (or maybe since the first firmware?) it's strange they haven't fixed it yet. If it's a firmware issue, I guess there's nothing we can do except waiting for a fix, right?

Occasionally I find the volume too low for my TV (I don't have an amp), but I always figured it was due to the original audio. Blurays and DVDs many times have ridiculously low volume levels, even after compensating for explosions, etc.
It annoys me when people make rips they don't bother to increase the volume when its significantly low (or they do the opposite and crank it too high and distort the audio).

Yes I have the same setup as you, and Boxee plays at way lower volume than other peripherphals. If your volume is at at 65 for Boxee, 65 on TV, MP3 etc is way louder. I don't know why but this is so annoying and also defeats the purpose of a true entertainment sound surround.
