Default Can't authenticate to boxee box from linux

    Hello everybody.
I have an strange problem. Here's the situation.
I have a hard drive that I've attached to my boxee box. my boxee box along with 3 other computers i have running linux are on the same network, and on the same workgroup using samba. For some reason, none of the computers can log in to the boxee box and access the shared hard drive.

What will happen is that I open nautilus (or any file manager), i enter the address of the boxee box's attached hard drive, and a pop-up comes up asking for my user info (username, domain, password). i enter the information, but the pop-up comes up again.

I've made a quick recording showing this.

i'm not an expert in samba, but i'm pretty sure i've set it up right. at least i know all the computers and the boxee box are on the same network and workgroup.
The weird thing is that 2 of those 3 linux machines i dual boot with windows (1 with windows 7. another with windows 8) and i have no problems accessing boxee box's hard drive under windows.
also, my android tablet and android phone authenticate without a problem too.

i thought it might be samba, but android uses samba as well.
i'm just completely lost here and i would really appreciate it if anybody could help me out here.
it's driving me crazy having to reboot my computer into windows just to put some videos or pictures to my boxee box hard drive.
    TIA!

I'am running linux too and access the hard drives on Boxee with FileZilla ftp Client to transfer movies and pictures.

So try to transfer your files with an ftp client.

    Hope this advice help you.

a pop-up comes up asking for my user info (username, domain, password). i enter the information, but the pop-up comes up again.
On the Boxee Box, go to Settings>>Network>>Servers

For Windows File Sharing make sure of the following:
    Username is guest
Password is blank (that is, do NOT enter a password)
Workgroup is whatever Workgroup your other SMB clients are using

    See if that helps.

This seems odd to me as there is no FTP access to the Boxee Box...

you know, that's a good idea. but i can't figure out how to turn the boxee box into an ftp server.
i had thought about a similar idea before and turning it into an ssh server but i don't think that's supported by the boxee box.
Do i have to root the boxee box or something to enable ftp service?

hey this works!!!! i don't know why i hadn't thought about that before! lol!
but you know, i actually would like to put a password on it just in case. i don't want family members who don't know what they're doing to come and erase stuff from my hard drive.
but this is a good fix for now. thanks a lot!!!

Unfortunately, no. The only access to drives connected to the Boxee Box is via SMB.
