Default Boxee box stopped playing srt subtitles after factory reset.

    Hey
I just bought a second hand boxee box, and in the beginning everything was working fine.
The Boxee box found and scanned my synology and my Qnap quick and played movies as well as srt subtitles very well.
Because it was secong hand i thought it would be a good idea to make a factory reset and start all over again.
But after the reset, the boxee wont play the subtitles. I have set the boxee to play subtitles as standard. but nothing happens. When i bring up the menu during playback, subtitles is set to "off" and it is not possible for me to change that.
My srt subtitles are downloaded fra subscene and is ofc placed and renamed in the same older as the movie.

    any input ?
    Regards

I have just reflashed with the newest firmware, and still no luck getting the boxee to play subtitles.

Its like the boen xee cant see the srt files, cause even when i search during playback it cant find anything under local files - and if i search online and download the subtitle, it wont play anything either.

I have tried changing the fonts, but could that be it ?

    regards

Have you tried clearing the media database and the settings as well?" Sometimes the media database and/or the settings can become corrupt and cause these kinds of annoying quirks.

Give that a try and see if it solves your issues

Thx for the respons, appreciate it.

I have just tried clearing the media database, without luck.
I "downgraded" the firmware to factory, flashed the new one again and still no luck with the subtitles. When i scanned my synology, the boxee only found 12 of my lokal files (movies) and i had to scan again to find them all - but still no subtitle.

Maybe i just have to wait for the next firmware update, to see if that should fix it. It is a shame cause i really like the boxee :-(

Also try to clear the system settings. This is not done when you do a factory restore and upgrade. A corrupted system setting can lead to all kinds of weird issues.

I personally haven't got problems with external (or online) subtitles with the current firmware.

Since the automatic mode doesn't seem to work for you, can you browse for subtitles when you are playing back your videos? You can get to this option by pressing the menu button during playback and selection the globe like icon and from there select the browse for subtitles option (could also be Browse..., I'm typing this without access to my Boxee Box at the moment).

I have restored it, updated it, returned to factory setting, cleared all media files, tried different firmwares....all without luck. actually sometimes, some of the movies play subtitles automaticly, but still doesnt let me se the files local. When i try to browse for subtitles (local) it cant find any, and it doesnt even give me a chance to actually browse between the srt files. I have turned subtiles on but when i try to browse subtitles when playing back videos it just syes subtitles off :-)

and as written before...movies and srt files are named same etc etc. works great when just streaming via dlna from either my Qnap or synology nas to my samsung tv.
