Can I use Boxee without an online account?

i have a simple question. Is it possible to use the Boxee Software without to register / sign-up with my online-account? I only ask because I'm trying to find out the differences between all the mediacenter software out there ...

ok i finally asked the support team, thats what they say:

Sorry but no, you must sign in/ up or else you wo't be able to operate the device.

Just use a throwaway email account. It's really not that big of a deal.

On the other hand, Boxee no longer supports the desktop application version of Boxee software; they only support the Boxee Box (set-top box streamer).
