Boxee disappoints again
WTF?....I bought this thing to watch the internet, but a lot of internet streaming requires "players" (adobe, silverlight) that are not on Boxee. Is there a way to get these players onto Boxee so I can use this thing for more than a paperweight? On top of that, when I try to stream the ipod on my iphone through boxee, it will work fine for one or two songs and then stop working.....nothing changes and reboots don't help....it just stops. More frustration than it's worth.

In all fairness to Boxee, Adobe dropped support for Flash for Consumer Electronics devices - the latest version you can hope for is 10.3, I think the Boxee Box uses 10.1. Most of the newer flash players require version 11, so if you have a problem with Flash on the Boxee Box, that is the most likely reason. Silverlight is all Microsoft and this isn't supported at all on Boxee Box for various reasons not limited to it being Linux based. As far as Apple is concerned, Flash has never been supported on the iPad, iPhone, or iPod.
I'd say #boycottapple multiple times but it seems you have plenty of those.

If you wanted to watch the olympics you needed to have the live tv dongle. Streaming live content on Boxee works no better than from a pc. The whole point of Boxee is to utilize Navi-x, for the most part. If you want live tv, turn on the tv. It seems the biggest complaints about Boxee come from people trying to do things that Boxee isnt designed to do.
Thats my 2 cents worth for today.

No, the best way was through TVCatchup w/ 24 live BBC feeds !

Not everybody lives in the city.....I cannot run cable into my house (open design) and satellite is not an option due to a large number of tall trees surrounding my house ( you remember what trees look like don't you....google an image)....if I want "live" TV, I do things like buy a boxee which I thought would allow internet streaming of live events into my TV....as I noted, I was mistaken in this assumption....thanks for sharing.....

why did i buy this?
please remind me why I bought this thing....most apps not available in Canada, apps that do work, only do so intermittently, specifically tune in radio- just magically stops streaming after 20 min or so EVERY TIME!!...support from boxee and tune in of no help whatsoever.....couldn't watch live olympic streaming because boxee lacked microsoft silverlight player....can it be added?.......boxee picks up the ipod on my iphone and plays 2 songs then magically disconnects, never to reconnect unless I reboot...forum gives me grief because I own apple products as well.....WTF??.......boxee comes with access to many movies.....mostly bollywood though.....cool thing if you're into that genre, but I am not......please, please remind me why I bought this thing.....
