after reading that Roku article and now this one > the line between cable-boxes and set-up-boxes are just getting thinner and thinner ... These big-boys wouldn't let the kids (like Boxee) make them lose money! They come and rewrite your business model and force you to make changes (if Roku bowed down to DishNetwork .. who the hell is Boxee)

Boxee already compromised with Comcast. While initially looks like a win for Boxee...still implementation is dependent on the govt and cableco.

Check news.google.com and read the recent articles regarding Boxee / Comcast. It looks like comcast type providers are looking to either have the STB do the decrypting, or providing a dongle to decrypt so they can still have their way.

"To address that concern, the largest cable operators, which serve 84% of U.S. cable subscribers, will provide either 1) an adapter with home-networking capability to decrypt TV signals and pass them through to IP devices or 2) an encryption solution that would be made commercially available to third-party manufacturers. NCTA president and CEO Michael Powell outlined the solutions in a letter Wednesday addressed to FCC chairman Julius Genachowski."
