Default Manual DHCP settings refuse to work?

    Hi guys,
Currently I can't change my DHCP to anything but automatic when connecting thru wireless to my router. The EXACT same settings that connect in automatic mode, refuse to work in manual mode. I have tried the following...

    - Took it to a friends place to try on his network - Same issue
    - Reset it to factory defaults - Same issue
    - Installed the latest firmware update via USB stick - Same issue

The reason I'm doing this is I need to run a custom DNS server to get Netflix running properly. The custom DNS is for unblock.us. I thought this was the issue, but then I tried with my normal DNS and its giving me the same issue.

Beginning to think its a hardware problem.... Anyone else got any ideas?

    Thanks!

What does "refuse to work" mean precisely?

What values are you using for all the network settings when you try to set them manually?

Do you have the same problem using a wired connection?

Is your problem that you are getting an error like "invalid IP address" when trying to save the settings when you change it to Manual?
If so, then this is probably due to there being multiple IP addresses in the DNS field. Boxee can pick up multiple DNS servers when in DHCP mode and these will show as multiple IP addresses separated by spaces in the DNS field. However, in Manual mode it will only accept one IP address in this field and will give that error if there is more than one. Deleting any additional IP addresses in that field normally resolves that error.

It says "Network settings were not configured properly"

OK, so heres an example :

On Auto DHCP, it would give me these settings.....
    IP address : 192.168.1.2
    Netmask : 255.255.255.0
    Default Gateway : 192.168.1.254
    DNS server : 192.168.1.254

    That works and connects perfectly.

Then, if I change it to manual settings, then enter the EXACT same details, it says "Network settings were not configured properly".

I have tried it wired and I don't get this issue, so its just effecting the wireless more - which is how I need to run the device.

Default Gateway should be the IP address of your router -- just want to make sure it's really on .254 and not .1 as the latter is more common (I think).

Out of curiosity, what router do you use? I have a Billion 7404VNPX. The router isnt the issue, as I run my appleTV thru a static IP and its wireless.

I've also been talking to Boxee, they think its a software bug....

If your router is provisioning an address range of 192.168.1.2-192.168.1.150 (for example) and your router provisions you an IP of 192.168.1.2, then you change your settings to manual, It's best to set your Boxee to an IP that is outside of your DHCP scope. IE: 192.168.1.200. I had an issue where I forgot to exclude my Boxee IP and the router DHCP provisioned the same IP as my static Boxee IP to another device on my LAN, causing an IP conflict and all sorts of issues on the Boxee Box.

When you switch to manual network settings on the Boxee Box and you have WIFI, you must re-select you SSID and re-input your SSID password. You can only input on DNS address when you set the Boxee Box to a manual network configuration.

I am doing exactly what you are attempting using playmo DNS.
I have done this setting on both a Linksys router and my current DLINK router without issues.
    Boxee Box: Hardware Version: A1, Firmware: - 1.5.1.23735 - Boxee+ 1.2.2
    WIFI through DLINK DIR-645 Router
    D-LINK DNS-323 NAS (1TB Raid)
    Samsung LN46A750

    ISP - 25 DOWN - 2.5 UP
