Connect hd's to boxee box & file sharing for a newbie

I now have my much wanted boxee box installed and hooked up to the tv. All is well so far. I also have two 2tb WD MyBook external hd's that will house all my entertainment. And here is where i need some help.

1. I can't seem to run even one of the hd's on boxee without the power cable attached, but that is probably normal, right?
2. Is it possible to connect the two hd's to the boxee and then find them on my computer (Acer laptop with xp) that is on the same network (boxee with cable, computer on wireless) so I can transfer files directly from computer to the two hd's?
3. What settings will I need on my boxee box and computer to do this?
4. if none of this is possible, what are my options?

1. Yes, one external USB must be powered externally and one can be powered by the Boxee Box. If you can't power just one with the Box there might be a hardware issue -- have tried using the other USB port with just one hooked up?

2. Yes, you can enable Windows sharing on the Boxee Box (See Settings>>Network>>Servers). Best to leave the password blank and make sure the Workgroup is the same if you've changed it from WORKGROUP on your PC(s)
