Thread: Disconnecting and Reconnecting

    Default Disconnecting and Reconnecting

Earlier today, while watching on the BB, it suddenly disconnected from the network. A few minutes later it reconnected, then disconnected. First thing I did was restart. Upon reboot, it said it couldn't connect, but when I clicked "ok" it connected. Then I navigated to local media, but before I could start it disconnected.

I've since done everything I could think of. I've restarted the router. I've left the Boxee unplugged from the power source. But nothing works. Each time I restart it, it says disconnected and reconnects then disconnects like before. I do not know what to do now. I do not know what the problem is. Please help.

Is your boxee connected wireless or wired? In either case I would try a factory reset and see if that helps.

I'm wireless. Should have said that from the beginning.

I have considered a factory reset, but I would like to try every other option, as I've got about 6TB scanned and identified many which I had to do manually. I don't want to start ovenless I have to.

Yeah, I can understand that, I'm avoiding a rescan of my big library too and I haven't created NFOs yet. If you have a way to
try it wired I would suggest that as a test. You could try reinstalling the latest firmware again and see if that helps.

I decided to do the factory restore tonight. After the restore I get the exact same problem of disconnecting and reconnecting are there any other ideas or is the BB broken? I did buy my BB on launch but I would not expect it to have a hardware problem this early.

more info:I've tried several FWs. Same problem with all. Under settings, no networks found.

I think my BB somehow broke. Does anyone else have an idea that might fix it?

I would try it hard wired to see if that makes a difference.

It does work hard wired. I tried a smaller HD. The problem is all of my stuff is on a 6TB NAS. With no network connection, I can't watch.

I believe that markc6123 meant that you need to plug an Ethernet cable into the Boxee Box and wire it directly to your router and see if if your network issues persist.
Boxee Box (latest firmware) w/LiveTV wired to Asus RT-N56U Router
    Main PC running Windows 7
Media Server running Ubuntu 12.04 with Amahi 6 and MythTV .25 (HDHomeRun Dual network tuner)

Automatically rename your MythTV files for Boxee Box compatibility with mythicalLibrarian

Ok, I got you. I just tried that. The BB said it was connected, but nothing would play such as youtube.
