I apologize if this has already been asked. I tried to browse the forums prior to posting, as this is my first post.
I am looking to cut the cord on DirecTV and start saving that money each month. To do this, I was looking for a solution where I could access the obvious like Netflix and Hulu, but could also browse the web and follow links through sites like Sidereel.com (unless there are better ones available) to view episodes of shows like Suits for example at no cost.
Based on everything I have seen, Boxee seems like my logical choice. However, after searching around and reading reviews/commentary, there seems to be issues with the functionality of the web browser and also with the latest versions of Flash.
Would I be able to utilize websites like Sidereel.com or other similar website to find my content?
And am I totally dependent on developer firmware updates to fix Flash issues (or other software issues) or can I update software like that for my Boxee myself? In other words, is this like a small multimedia PC with close to full PC capabilities or am I stuck in a dummy-proof box like the Apple TV where things are easy...and extremely limited?
Thank you so much for your help. If Boxee does meet my needs, I'm looking at getting two to start off with and maybe a third down the road. I appreciate your responses!
