    Default SMB problems

Hi I recently changed router setup and as such my linux fileserver's ip changed.
I had samba shares set up on this which had my media content on.

When i originally got the boxee box i was able to point out there shares by manually entering the path (as navigating through the smb option in sources didn't work).

    e.g.
    smb://192.168.10.8/daniel/Videos/Movies/

however with the latest version of the firmware i can't seem to do this.

Is there something i'm missing? is it still possible to manually enter the complete path to a media location?
    Thanks

    Question re: SMB Problems

I recently changed my router and did not have any problems with the SMB shares. My shares are identified on the Boxee 'Files' screen with their Name, not their IP. For example, I have a folder called 'Movies' on a computer with the name 'HOME'. The Boxee lists this share as 'Movies on HOME'. I did not have to update it when I changed the router. Have you tried updating the Router and Linux IP back to what it was originally?

I could change it back however i'm quite set on keeping it to the new one for organisational reasons.
Secondly i did a factory resed so reseting the IP address won't help.
I'd still be unable to enter the path.
I did have one share setup that used the name as opposed to the ip and it worked fine.

I would setup syslog and dump the logs and see what BB is doing.

I had an issue a while ago (win 7 share host) where the IP changed after a box rebuild - boxee was still trying to resolve the name to the old address. Was eventually able to flush it out but only caught it because of dumping to syslog.

    Good luck!

If your media library is still intact and your router allows DHCP reservations, setup your router to use the IP address your media library is pointing to for the MAC address of the NIC on your fileserver. That should fix you right up and you should not have to rebuild your media library as it will be pointing to the proper IP address again.

If you deleted your media library, the option is still there to enter the IP address manually under Setup/File Sources/Add Sources then select your protocol of choice AFP - NFS or SMB then select to Manually Enter IP / Name. Enter the IP address of your file server and select ok and then from there you should be able to select the specific folder you want to add.
