Mac Formatted External HDD

I am new to this site so please bear with me

I am looking at buying the boxee box, to run alongside my apple products (Macbook Pro, Ipad, Iphone). i have got an external HDD (with about 500gb of Movies and TV Shows) that for some reason can only be read on my Macbook (not on a windows machine or my TV) and am not very clued up on all this.

so am asking if anyone could help me with this. if i buy a boxee box will my apple formatted HDD be read?

Yes. My Boxee Box has no problem with my HFS+ formatted external HDDs or seeing my shared files on my Mac.
