Thread: Video file only plays audio, but can be played fine on WMP & VLC....

    Boxee Box doesn't properly support MPEG-4/MP4 videos particularly the ones generated from digital cameras. It was reported ages ago and never fixed.

    There's nothing wrong with your videos, you unfortunately just have to convert them. Not sure why Handbrake was giving you so much trouble, continue to use VLC if that works for you but if you want to try Handbrake again;
    * use the high profile preset
    * set the container to mp4
    * on video tab set RF value to 17
    * start encoding

    That should give you a video which looks very close to the original. If your PC is unable to play such files then VLC may not be using hardware decoding, you'd have to use another media player like MPC-HC or Potplayer.

    I just when back a previous version on handbrake, just encase . i know it did fix a issue before.
