Default Is the remote on the Iomega Boxee chronic? Is it general?

I'm having lots of problems working around with the remote. It simply stops working sometimes... I have to force a reboot on the box for it to work.

    Anyone has these same issues?

    Thanks!

The Iomega Boxee remote is an IR remote. The Boxee Box remote works off RF. Different technologies, so despite appearances, the problems are probably not similar between the two devices. So I doubt any of us can really help you.

The Iomega device will have very limited success since it was late to the game, and is about to be superseded by new hardware. You're unlikely to find too many people who have one who can help you. As AminB said, you should probably contact Iomega support. Good luck.
@tronbrain uses Boxee Box hardware rev A2, with firmware V1.5.0.23735 <- CLICK ME to learn how to up or downgrade firmware.

Yep, it's a known issue and Iomega will replace your unit for free if it's in warantee. I'm waiting for a replacement atm.....

Is it hardware? How did your replacement go?

A few friends and I have bought these recently, as they were doing them on special sales online, and so you got the 1Tb Iomega TV for the same price as a Boxee Box, and the extra storage is nice, especially as a lot of my friends aren't too into their tech yet, and don't have NAS storage etc already.

Anyway, of the 5 Iomega TVs we bought between us, at least one is playing up with the symptoms above, and another I suspect has the same issue also. Not a great hit rate tbh, but if Iomega recognise the issue and will replace the hardware I guess it's not the end of the world.

Just to update this thread for future reference, Iomega are aware of the issue and have identified it as a software issue. Therefore this has nothing to do with it being an IR remote/low batteries/etc etc.

However, despite being aware of the issue, the engineering team have not come back with a fix (and I have low expectations of there being one anytime soon).
