Thread: First the movie hang, then after a few seconds it returns to the board!

Default First the movie hang, then after a few seconds it returns to the board!

This is real fishy and this is no longer fun with all the freaking bugs in it...

Fire up a 1080p movie, and after a minute or two it hangs and freeze, then after a few seconds it shut down the movie and returns to the board!! The movie is 100% working, but what the heck. =/

    Any solution for this?

Sounds like something is wrong with your movie file. If it were 100% working then it shouldn't exit out by itself. You can start by checking details of the file with medainfo and probably getting a log of the event to send to Boxee would be a good idea - contact Marcel with that information.

Other than that, there's no information (because you haven't provided it) that can lead to a definitive explanation. Many people, myself included, regularly play 1080p movie files on Boxee.

Is is every movie or just one particular movie? If just this one movie, does it happen in the same spot every time?

If you put the movie on a USB drive, do you have the same problem?

Last but not least, if it's happening with more than one more movie, are using a wired or wireless connection for the Box and/or source?

When the movie freezes, I can jump FF or BW, and it will continue for a while. =/

The movie was 100% downloaded, and itīs a *.mkv-file.

No, it is only on this file it is like this. But will check with VLC on my Mac...

Since it's just this one movie file, then there's probably something about it that's choking Boxee. It happens sometimes. If you downloaded it you might want to try a different release or try running it through mkvmerge to see if that fixes it. http://www.bunkus.org/videotools/mkv.../mkvmerge.html

Tested another movie right now, after 20 seconds it hangs and exit to the board again like the other flick.
Transfered the movie to my Mac and let it play in VLC, no errors or what so ever!

The box is connected to my network over Wi-Fi, and the box is on the second floor right over the AP. Will try to do a re-install of the FW.

Edit: Downloaded the latest logs from the box, but were to check?

Edit 2: 12:20:19 up 34 min, load average: 4.00, 3.88, 3.30... WT*! Thatīs not normal when itīs idle.
Iīm using Linux since 4 years, and also works with it. And a load average over 1.00 even when itīs idle is NOT good!

Do you keep your Boxee Box running all of the time, or do you shut it down after use? I've found that this happens to me every now & then and rebooting the Box always fixes it (unless it's truly a problem file).

Now itīs every movie that the Box canīt play... Hangs after a few seconds up to a copuple of minutes!

All movies are played from my Ubuntu server that are using NFS to share the movies. This starts to freak me out really bad now.

Edit: Googled it, and ended up with this bug: http://jira.boxee.tv/browse/BOXEE-7777.
Edit 2: More Google ends up with this tread: http://forums.boxee.tv/showthread.php?t=41003

Edit 3: But it happends to ALL movie formats, not just MKV-files... =/

Playing the same movie from USB, all is fine!
Playing the same movie from NFS, the CPU0 goes up to 100% then the Box is crashing!

But where in the logs should I look?
