Default Help: iomega Boxee - new user

Hi everyone. Please help me, as I can't rely on the official iomega support, they say they won't help me...

What's the best way to fill up my iomega Boxee HDD with files? By simply connecting a usb to my macbook and filling it up? It it that simple?

    Thanks

this sounds like a trick question to me. DONT ANSWER HIM!

but seriously, yes is the answer.

Are you sure a media streamer is for you? I anticipate lots of queries.

Boxee is a media streamer, iomega Boxee is a Media Streamer with an internal hard drive. So yes, it is for me. And no, I have no more queries, just this one...

Isn't your Iomega box connected to your network? If that is the case, you should be able to "mount" the network drive on your Macbook, unless you already see it in Finder.

    See this article: http://support.boxee.tv/entries/2064...torage-manager

Another option would be to press Cmd + K in finder, then enter smb://IP_address_of_iomega/

You need to connect your Iomega Box to your local network and then you can copy files from your PC to your Iomega HDD:

If there's a way to connect the Iomega via USB to a computer, it will be documented here: http://support.boxee.tv/categories/20023443-iomega-tv or here: http://www.iomega.com/support/manual...v/en/main.html

    So, this is what happened:

I tried the solution of finding the ip from Boxee through Finder. It worked perfectly! But my problem is: when I started copying the 350GB of files...it said it would take like 75 hours or so!!! Come on, is this normal? This much time?

Would it be quicker through a simple USB 2.0 cable?

    Thanks!

350GB will take it's time. If it has a USB 2.0 it will go faster, but it will still take some time.

Remember that the box only has a 100Mbit interface, that's approx 12 MB/s. If you are on WiFi with your macbook you won't reach 100Mbit neither which means that it'll be even slower.
