Default Boxee Box constantly buffering on TV Shows

My Boxee Box is running the latest firmware. It is connected to my router via ethernet. It works fine for everything except when I watch things on the TV Show section. It doesn't matter what show I watch, everything is buffering. It will happen every 30 seconds and it is getting annoying. This is the primary reason why I purchased it in the first place. It worked flawlessly up until 2 weeks ago and nothing has been changed on my end.

Any ideas on how to resolve this?

Are these online TV shows or your own tv show files on a computer somewhere?

Online TV shows. When the boxee boots up, I click on TV Shows from the main menu. I can choose the show or network.

Have you tried rebooting your router?

Have you run a speedtest? (http://speedtest.net -- from a computer not the Boxee Box) to ensure you're close to your expected speed package?

Boxee has not control over web-based content and since there's been not changes on the Boxee Box the problem resides somewhere after the Box (starting with the router, your connection to the internet, and/or the routing to the websites with the videos).

Oh, there's one thing that might help:

Go to Settings>>Network>>Network and if you're not already using a static IP address for your Box, make a note of the all the IP addresses, switch to "manual", use the same values but change DNS to 8.8.4.4

I have exactly the same problem. I was running on wireless and it keeps buffering, annoying and can't see anything. Now I conencted to the box wired LAN, still same thing, nothing change.

    My speedtest.com results is 16 MB/s, I think that's fast enough.

The sad thing is that my Apple TV runs on the same network at home, wifi, it never buffers. When I rent a movie, it will take around 40 sec to buffer the first content, and then runs smooth. I can even skip through the movie and it will work like YouTube.

Something wrong with Boxee, support pls help.

Is this for online content or for video files you have on a computer on your network? If the former, then what I posted above still applies:

Have you run a speedtest? (http://speedtest.net -- from a computer not the Boxee Box) to ensure you're close to your expected speed package?

If this is for files on your network then please post the following:

Are you using NFS, SMB, or AFP for streaming files from a computer or NAS? What OS is the computer or make/mode of the NAS?

Note that wireless is the least desirable way to go because it is very dependent on your local environment, not the least of which are neighbors who start adding access points that cause channel-crowding, etc. However, now that you're using wired, it may be possible to assist with a few tweaks.

I found when I was getting this, I changed over to Google's DNS addresses and things seem to have been resolved. I have now gone into my router and permanently set my DNS at 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4. Dont know why but Boxee doesnt seem to get along with my IP's provided DNS.

Can I ask you why 8.8.4.4? I'm not a network person, but I'm curious about this. Thanks.

They're public DNS servers managed by Google and are typically fast.
