    Default Hard Drive issues

    Hi,
    First time poster here.
My Boxee Box is having trouble recognizing my additional hard drives. I currently have a 1TB ext HD which is mains powered and also a USB hub with 7 ports which now houses 5 additional 1 TB portable drives.
I knew that I was going to end up with quite a few hard drives before I bought the Boxee Box so I did my research, I found out, from this forum, that as long as the hub was mains powered then I could eventually daisy chain as many hubs as I wanted and never have an issue with the amount of hard drives. I even researched the best hub (Belkin F5U237QEA Hi-Speed USB 2.0 7-port Hub) and hard drives (SAMSUNG S2 1TB Ultraslim Portable Hard drive USB 2.0) to buy, on this forum and purchased those.
So how come, ever since I plugged up my newest hard drive, is the Boxee Box, struggling to recognize random hard drives and repeatedly detaching and attaching them?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated

    Cheers

Is possible it's a bad drive?

To try to narrow down the possible causes of the problem, eliminate everything but the new drive and then slowly add components. That is, disconnect the hub and every drive. Just connect the new drive directly to the Boxee Box. If it works, add the hub and connect the new drive to the hub. If it still works, add another drive and try again. Keep going until it fails. At least, that's what I would do to identify what's causing the issue.

I'll give it a go, thanks.
But the Boxee should be able to recognize 6+ hard drives, right?

    Great, that's really helpful, cheers.
I wonder if it's because I have 5 portable HDDs in one hub, maybe some of them need to be powered?

Might not be a bad idea to try externalling powering some if you can, to see if that has any effect.

I have this same issue... my single hard drive constantly disconnects and reconnects. I never had an issue until the latest firmware 1.5.1. With no EA betas and no general betas in the pipeline... it's not looking good to get this fixed right now.

Hey guys, is your issue anything like this? I had an issue like that which was driving me bananas, turned out to be a dodgey USB port on the Boxee Box. I think it would work on the outer one but not the inner. Worth a try.
