    Default cablecard tuner?

Sorry if this is a repeat, but I have not been able to find this one elsewhere. I see lots of requests that boxee be able to access signals from cablecard tuners such as HDHomeRUn, Ceton, etc. However, rather than buy one of these, why not add a cablecard feature directly to the Boxee LiveTV dongle? Maybe a total noob question, but is there a technical barrier to this? I would pay good money for that gadget, which would also make Boxee the clear winner in this streaming box race. I know those other devices offer benefits in accessing multiple simultaneous signals, which would probably be wasted in this app, but it would still save me a fortune over renting a FIOS STB, with the same limitations. I like live sports too much to be a complete cord cutter but would by a second Boxee if I could send back my STB.

CableCARD certification is a long hard and expensive road. It might be that Boxee isn't willing to go that route.
