Default Grey instead of Black bars on 4:3 content?

I watch a lot of old SD shows which are all 4:3. I was wondering if there is an option to have the black bars be grey? I looked at all the options and I couldn't find anything.

    Nope, there's no such option.

that's unfortunate, just bought a new plasma screen, probably being too cautious but black bars worry me regarding IR, read somewhere grey is better for that.

Normally plasma TVs have an option somewhere to adjust the "greyness" of the sidebars (at least mine has)- because it's not only a problem for the Box, but any 4:3 material (off the air, satellite, DVD, ...).
