I contacted the support - they adviced me to contact Boxee Box :-) Redirecting mania ;-)
My research so far in various other forums etc showed that others experience the same audio drop-outs / stuttering. So hopefully the ones responsible for the Spotify App address this problem quickly respectivley necessary backends / infrastructure updates within the app to work properly.
