No, I didn't feel you were directing any anger towards me at all. I feel your frustration and I have filed a JIRA ticket many months back requesting that Boxee add an Offline mode button to the menu in the event it can't connect to the boxee servers so people can easily get to the main menu and play their local content. Whether this ever makes it to a firmware release, I don't know. Thanks for your kind words and hopefully we get an update soon that will remedy some of these bugs.

Any success stories are welcome as well. Please let me know if this has worked for you. I have tested this thoroughly on 2 different boxes and it works flawlessly on my setup. If I need to make changes to the guide, please let me know.

I'm still stumped as to why rwburnett's boxee would not get to the main menu in offline mode.

So I left the house without the controlled and would like to use Boxee to view some files on a hard drive I brought with me. Internet access is available but I am unable to connect Boxee to the internet without the controller. I have my laptop with me and I have a android phone with the Boxee app. Any suggestions or work arounds for this?

Since you need to setup the Box for network access, you won't be able to use network-based remotes/apps. If you have a usb/wireless keyboard, that would probably work.
