Thread: Endless blue circle?

    Default Endless blue circle?

So I think I've encountered an unfixable problem. Basically, whenever I turn my Boxee Box on now it just shows the blue "loading" circle endlessly while intermittently flashing a black screen and then will, after a long time, bring me to a menu where it says Boxee cannot connect to the internet. If I hit "ok", the process will start over and it will bring my back to the same menu after a long time. If I hit "cancel", it will let me fiddle with some basic connection settings and attempt to login in again.

The weirdest thing is that during this whole ordeal, my Boxee actually is connected to the internet. If I unplug or reset the router while at the menu, I'll get the little notifications in the corner saying "Boxee is no longer connected to the internet" and then "Boxee is now connected to the network".

I'm currently attempting a factory reset but it's the same story as before, endless blue "loading" circle, except this time it doesn't even take me to the menu.

What the hell is wrong with my Boxee Box?

I'm in the same boat as those above. Boxee box was working fine last night. This morning it gets caught in this reboot cycle. I tried the factory reset, but same result.

I have also tried to restore to factory defaults. I opened a support ticket and it was instantly closed without investigation or response. Sweet.

There's no point of doing Jiras anymore , just send an e-mail to support@boxee.tv

Support requests should always go to support@boxee.tv or http://support.boxee.tv/anonymous_requests/new

Bug reports should still go to http://jira.boxee.tv/

wayne.stewart's issue is definitely a support issue.

    ^ that's the ideal world.

we all know by now that they don't care about Jira system anymore. so just don't waste your time on it. I'd bug them on twitter or e-mail !

What the hell is wrong with my Boxee Box?

I have resolved this issue, here is what I did.

    - Boot into recovery console (please note the first times i did this it went to a yellow boxee symbol but didn't give me the recovery console options).
    - To resolve the note above, I put the new boxee firmware on a USB stick, then booted in again, this time it gave me options.
    - I wiped all settings restoring to factory default, then I upgraded to the newest firmware on the same menu.

This time on boot up it worked. Giving the me the welcome menu, initial setup.

I believe the problem was with the firmware, as Boxee is anal about updating, forces updates at startup etc. So the uptime on my box was probably over 2 months, so I believe I missed updates (more then 1), then when I finally reset my boxee, I was at an old firmware version, that wasn't upgradable to the newest, and it kept looping because it didn't know what to do. At least this is my take on it.

    Here are the links:

    Recovery console:

    Firmware upgrade:

Please let me know if this works for you.

Also, the 2nd support ticket I opened, the agent actually tried to help. Thanks Marcel.
