I've never had to use it myself so hopefully someone else can chime in and help out.

(It's been recommended before to address various encoding issues -- I believe it's possible to use and not lose any quality).

If you're referring to VFR like you would fin in Yibis One Piece encodes then remuxing nor just normal trans-coding will work. (audio will go out of sync)

The boxee box will play just about everything you want, but anime is the weak point.
