Files vs Movies vs TVshows icon and Naming Conventions

Boxee People,

I have been searching around on here and have learned a lot...thanks! Usually I am the guy helping others with tech things, but this time I need the help. Currently I am looking for an alternative to Windows Media Center as my media server. I run Windows 7 32 bit as my home share. I have several laptops(mac & win), tablets, phones, xbox, ps3, etc... that all play videos from my old laptop which holds my films and music. I want to switch to boxee. Recently I got a used one from Amazon which seems to be a good working machine.

My problem I cannot seem to resolve - Boxee Box sees my share drives, plays the videos, and will put DvD art and other info correctly to each video. However all of this is only under the "files" section of Boxee Box menu options. And it only appears in a list with no art visible.
What I would like is for the movies and TV shows to fall under the appropriate icon and have the appearance of netflix like cataloging similar to other boxee images I have seen. After two days I cannot seem to get the search to find the files on the drives under movies or TV shows all while showing up fine, but listed under files.

Can I do this under movies and TVshows? Or can I make the files show up in a different view with art?

I have follow all the directions on here that I have found to date including the naming conventions, share for everyone, firewall, etc... All my other machines do this with ease, but on windows media center.

Would someone give me a walk through or point me to the proper directions here on the forum?

My network - All wired to include Boxee Box except portable laptops and phones. I have one linksys router wired in and wireless WP2 with two 8 port trendnet switches over a wimax connection sometimes switched to a verizon 3g connection.

Yes, I did and my windows shares show up. When I return to the main app both movies and TVshows still say nothing added. The Files app shows all in a list with no art.

Any other thoughts?

There's never any cover art, etc via Files.

On the page where you added File Sources, what does the status say for each Source you added (to the right) and what does it say at the bottom of the screen?

To the right it always says waiting to be scanned. When I scan and rescan nothing usually happens. Sometimes it says it is scanning yet only once have I seen it scanning at the bottom of the page. It came back with all zeros for discovery.

I assume there would be no art in the files section. I just wanted it to be know that was my end result wanted, but in the movies/tvshow sections.

I just clicked it now and it states "media source will be rescanned". The it showed in green "media source updated". I then went to movies and get "no local media yet". The files all still show up and play in the "files" app.

Under Settings>>System>>Advanced select "Clear media information..."

I think the database on the Box is corrupt so try the above first. If that doesn't help, you could also try a factory restore:

Unreal! Clearing the media in your first step worked! Is that a cache basically?

I had made a small file folder as a test while making sure everything for it was setup correctly. I then ran the scan on it after the cache clear. Everything work immediately just as designed. I then went on to my larger stores. Thank you so very much for taking the time to help.

No not cache, the box has a database that contains data about your scanned media.
