Default Accessing a windows fiile share.

    Hi
I attached a USB device to BB and publish it using network->Enable Windows file sharing
I can see BB with I look for network drives and I can see the usb name but when I try to access it I get "The user name could not be found" - see attachment for the exact error message.

I tried to add a user and password to the BB (using Network ->share password) but with no success.

I tried to find an a thread about it but with again with no success.

Does anyone have a solution to this?

    Thx

The best way to set this up is to:

    1) Leave the username as: guest
(not sure this can even be changed)
    2) Leave the password blank
    3) Make sure Workgroup is the same as the Workgroup for all your other Windows computers on your network

After making these updates, you may need to restart your Windows computer and/or the Boxee Box (Windows likes to cache login/access information so if you've tried and failed to access the USB drive remotely before, it might continue to to fail until you reboot).

I know this thread is basically resolved, but I wanted to note that I was having the exact same problem and a simple reboot of the Boxee Box after turning on Windows File Sharing is all it took. Made sure the workgroup name was the same, no Web Server or File Sharing password needed. Once I rebooted the box, the error message when connecting from my Vista & XP computers went away. Wish I had read this thread sooner. Wasted a good 30 minutes. Thanks!
