    Question How to start BB

    This very basic but a quick forum search yielded no answers; I have latest update applied to BB.

    Click SHUTDOWN.
    Screen goes black. green logo displayed on the box.

    How do I start BB now?

    How did you turn it on in the first place? - Is this a trick question?

    Simply press the power button on top of the Boxee Box - or use the Menu/back buttons on both sides of the remote (buttons with 3 stripes/lines on them)

    If you mean the green logo is still on after powering off the BBox, then you might try disconnecting all cables/cords from the BBox for a moment and then try it again

    How did you turn it on in the first place?
    TV on HDMI source shows no signal;
    Connect the power;
    Press the power button (green logo on BB lights up);
    Boot sequence visible on TV

    Click SHUTDOWN
    TV displays black screen
    green logo on BB is on

    At this point pressing the power button does nothing.
    Pressing the "back buttons on both sides of the remote" does nothing

    Disconnect BB from the power source;
    green logo on BB goes off
    TV displays "No signal" message

    How long are you waiting for the Box to power off on its own?

    After powering on the Box, what happens if you use the button on the Box, hold it down for 4-5 seconds to power it off?

    Maybe try a different HDMI cable -- a different HDMI port on your TV -- try turning on the BBox first and then power up the TV, and try this sequence in reverse

    What brand is your TV - someone just posted on the forum earlier that Sony had listed some instructions for updating the HDMI ports on it's TVs (or something to that affect!)

    Edit - maybe I misunderstood your issue -- does your BBox work OK after the boot sequence - and do you mean that your issue is... the green logo stays on after powering the BBox down and at this point you can not power the BBox back on?

    Not sure what you mean by "power off". Clicking "SHUTDOWN" causes shutdown within two seconds, maybe less.

    In this case things work as expected. The software shuts down following by the hardware turning off ending with the TV producing the "No Signal" message, so this is OK.

    This is totally different from the behaviour that I have after clicking SHUTDOWN.

    Okay, how long are you waiting for the Box logo to turn off (which indicates that the Box has powered off) and after selecting "Shutdown"?

    (using shutdown is supposed to power off the Box, but the Box is not entirely powered off if the logo is still on...)

    The logo is still green six minutes after the screen has gone blank.

    The TV is LG. The BBox works OK after the boot sequence. It is pretty much useless after clicking SHUTDOWN though, I can't get it back unless I disconnect/reconnect the power supply.

    It sounds like it could be a hardware issue - but you might consider a factory reset and reinstall the current frmw from a USB stick
