IR Blaster Support
I'd love to see support for the Boxee Box to remotely control connected audio equipment and TV like is done with the IR Blaster plugin for the Sqieezebox Classic. This should be possible by using a USB IR dongle with IR Blasting capability and with underlying code to capture and program sending of IR codes..
How would this work? Well on my Squeezebox, when I turn it on or off, the IR Blaster pliugin sends IR Blaster commands that I have programmed via a IR sender (blaster) connected to my Onkyo receiver. When I turn the Squeezebox on, IR Blaster turns the receiver on, sets the input to CD and turns on the B-speakers. When the Squeezebox is turned off, the input goes to Video 1, the B-Speaker off and the receiver off.
For a Boxee it could be even cooler. Turn on the Boxee and the TV turns on and switches the input to HDMI AND the Receiver turns on and sets its input to Video 1. Note that the Squeezebox can also control external volume thru IR, RS-232 and IP as well. End result is that you should be able to control the TV, surround receiver and Boxee Box all from the Boxee Remote.
