    Default where should I start?

So, I have some programming experience, but from a completely different perspective. I am learning python for a different project, but it is in no way my language of choice.
I recently bought the boxee box, and am thinking of writing an app or two for some local (Danish) sources.

Where do I start? It seems that most of the guides and resources are several years old, and that a lot of stuff have been happening recently? Should I be learning python or html5? How do I debug? Is there some sort of virtual machine available for testing?

I hope you can give me some likely pointers

My browser won't open dev.boxee.tv, and yes, I've had a look through the stickies, that's why I know that they're several years old.

Ok, so, that second post was definitely more helpful, but it really also just goes to show the mixed signals I'm getting - I've been to both sites already, but if html5 is the way to go, why is it not mentioned on the developer-boxee.tv main-page?

doing a quick search for html5 on the entire developer wiki, it seems that the only html5-relevant bit is a link to a blogpost from february last year (and a link to the github-examples). is that it? what are people using, and what does boxee recommend newcomers to do?

I'm sorry if I come across demanding, but I really think it's a legitimate question - what tools are you using yourselves? and do you intend to keep using those?

HTML5 just means the Javascript API which is mentioned on the wiki main page (http://developer.boxee.tv/JavaScript_API).
I think you should base your choice of API on which language you are most comfortable in (Python or Javascript).
Just know that Boxee say that they want to take the HTML5/JS road for future developement and recommend all new developers to use this, however at the current point the javascript API is an uphill road (i.e. the API currently kind of sucks ;-))

I didn't mention the stickies, I mentioned using SEARCH Depending on the topic you could try using SEARCH (e.g. search on HTML5) to see what other 3rd-party developers have posted on the topic recently.
