    Default problems with identifying doctor who 1963

    I have both series 1963-1989 and 2005 when it scans it picks up and shows doctor who 2005 with 1963 under it when browsing doctor who (2005).
    It identifies 2005 correctly but not 1963-1989 i have verified the episodes on imdb and have used theRenamer to make sure the names are correct, i have them under separate folders doctor who (2005) and doctor who (1963) and have verified the seasons and episodes manually.
    For the 1963 series i just have seasons 12-18 maybe this is the cause i'm not sure on imdb both doctor who (2005) and doctor who (1963) are there in the database.
    Also there is a 6 part series called Shada that tom baker did in 1992 imdb has no information on this at all? i guess i ill have to make an NFO.

    Boxee generally uses details from thetvdb.com and not imdb.com for TV shows. Using thetvdb.com details I haven't generally had problems with Boxee identifying the 1963 Doctor Who.
    Here is the page for the 1963 version:
    http://thetvdb.com/?tab=series&id=76107&lid=7

    Here is an example filename for one of my episodes - which just happens to be the first part of Shada with Tom Baker:

    Doctor Who (1963) S17e21.mkv

    I did find that sometimes Boxee would misidentify an episode of the 2005 show as one from the 1963 one. To resolve this I created an NFO file called tvshow.nfo in the folder for the 2005 show, containing the following (78804 is the id for the 2005 show on thetvdb.com):
    Code:
    <tvshow>
    <id>78804</id>
    </tvshow>

    Right theRenamer uses thetvdb for id odd though it matches the data there perfectly but still no id or scraping theRenamer can also add a nfo to the show tried that no luck.
    I made 2 nfo files one for 2005 and one for 1963 i double checked the id 1963 still is not getting scraped or id'ed really odd , i even cleared all data and thumbnails and started over after a restart but still it is not being scraped or id'ed and is still under 2005.
    Also i find on many cancelled shows that there is no thumbnail art even though there are poster on thetvdb for it?.
    Ok so i reset my box back to factory then updated again rescanned now its working? odd not sure why a simple rescan did not fix it after i renamed the files?.

    If you have added NFO files to help Boxee identify a TV show correctly, and the files have already been scanned by Boxee, a rescan won't generally pick them up and you need to clear the database or remove and re-add the source for it to work (I also find this rather annoying). That's probably why it is working for you now.
