Thread: Scanning issue, please help

    Default Scanning issue, please help

I added a few new files today and tried to rescan, for some reason it would not scan. I tried several things including emptying the media library and starting over, but none of it worked. I am on the latest 1.5.1 firmware. The scanning was working as recently as a week ago can anyone help me figure a way to fix the problem.

AFAIK you can't force it to scan right away. So wait for it to kick in itself. Also try removing and re adding the source.

happened to me once, it stopped scanning my shows folder. I just had to remove the source and add it again. As I said in another thread leave Boxee alone for a few hours and let it finish the initial scanning and identifying, this will greatly improve performance as it will build the entire database in the first try and will not try to scan and identify for many hours at a time whenever it boots up.

I removed all of the sources and began to add them again. I left it over night and got no result. After twelve hours it still said "waiting to be scanned".

Try rebooting the BBox and your network devices - if it doesn't help, at least it won't take long to try it

It sounds like you've tried most of the usual suggestions - if you don't find a solution, you might consider a factory reset, which will reset your BBox back to the day you received it - and you might want to install the most current firmware from a USB Flash drive in the process

I did a factory reset. After startup, when I reached the "join a network" step, the boxee said "no network found". I've never had trouble connecting to the network. Maybe that was the reason why it wouldn't scan, but I was still able to watch shows through "files". My network share is a Synology NAS. Now for some reason the boxee cannot find my wireless network. I have never had this problem before. I don't know what to do. I don't know what settings to change.

"No network found" ??? -- I assume the shows you are watching from 'Files' are on your NAS... and how is the NAS being accessed from the BBox, over your network? - if so, is the network connection a wireless or wired connection

A wired connection is always recommended/preferred (if possible)

The NAS is a wireless smb source. Previousll I could still watch stuff on files. Space limitations prevent a wired connection.
