If you want a response I would email Boxee directly as this is just a users forum. We are lucky that some of the Boxee team do comment here now and again, especially Marcel, but I don't believe it is an official channel for support. If you have a specific problem you can create a jira entry, or if you have a feature request there is a thread for that (but to be honest I would still email and include links the the threads you feel are relevant).

no man you got it wrong its garbage day that's why its windy, so when you step out the door in the morning you see a garbage filled lawn.

Make sure debug mode is set to none, i remember readinfg a dev post in a jira ticket i opened having debug mode will greatly decrease Boxee's performance do to logging services running in the background. Also there was a few days where my wireless bridge crapped out and i was not home, people where still able to use BBox offline with local content (usb) and never complained about it being slow. I think you case is isolated or something weird with you setup. Another thing people don't relies is BBox only scrapes content at boot or when its sitting in the UI. Whenever i reset my BBox to default settings and after adding my sources I leave it alone for a good 2 hours so it can scan and identify all my content, since i started doing this the BBox has never hanged crashed or froze on me. When I first got the BBox i was not doing leting it scan and noticed that it was slow and hard to navigate because every time i was in the UI it was scanning and identifying, you can see where i'm going with this right??

Your in the UI for maybe 5 minutes all other times is either in an app or viewing media so by doing it this way it would take weeks to scan and then of cource if the servers are offline which means more trouble, if you let it scan for a few hours before it would not try to scan if/when servers are offline and maybe is causing the slowness you experience?

I have been using the Boxee for about a year now and am quite familiar with the options available and how it scans. I don't have logging enabled and if you look at my 1st post you will see I only have 2 folders setup and the scanning is effectively turned off on the large folder (Set to ONCE and was done months ago) and the other one is set to Daily and is very small. Furthermore I indicated that the performance issues weren't isolated to ME only. During the same time frame a few friends were reporting the same behavior. Please explain that....

Given the recent server issues causing many to be frustrated I would like to resurrect this request.

If this option was available users could have avoided the impacts until the servers were restored.

People keep saying that but nobody has ever proved it (ie, a link to someone at boxee showing how it works)

But either way the reason boxee box failed is because you need someone who is interested in you the enduser, and not screwing you over for something else (as they have done many times so far)
