Default Boxee Box have a few problems

    Hello

I have just bought a Boxee Box and I am having a few issues. I have looked at the stickies and looked through the first few pages without finding any similar issues.

I have just booted the box up and it has lost its config. It was just like I had turned it on for the first time. It asked to config the screen size, language etc. When I logged in all my sources were gone therefore all the scrapping for shows and movies.

Previous to this I found it to be quite slow. When going into a tv show, it could take up to 60 seconds to display the list of episodes. When clicking play to view a show, the sound would come on 5 - 20 seconds before the video. When a show finishes, it just goes to a blank screen for quite a while before displaying the list of shows again.

Has anyone ever had similar problems or know how I can troubleshoot or resolve these issues?

    Thanks

I had this problem once after a firmware update. I flashed the firmware again and it fixed the issues. You may need to do a factory reset and then update the firmware to see if your config sticks.

well things have taken a turn for the worst.

I tried to perform a factory reset (power off, press and hold the power button for 5-10 secs). Now when I turn the box on, I get a yellow/green boxee light on the front and just a blank screen. The tv is detecting an input but I am getting nothing, can't ping the device (wired straight into router), can't get to the web interface (not suprising seeing I cant ping), no sounds when using the remote.

Any ideas? I currently have an expensive paper weight.

Had the same problem here a few days ago, could not get it out the stage where the lights flashed to red.... I even tried the factory reset and a usb software upload... no luck no matter what I did. End up exchanging it for a new one, D-Link offers a in store exchange(up to one year) so no need to wait for it to be sent out. New one is working much better with no lag at all and no problems so far. (Note mine also lost all those settings a few days prior to not being able to bring up the XMB)

Did you ring d-link first or just take it back to where you got it?

You should take it back to the place you bought it and get a replacement. It sounds like it was a defective box all along and you are entitled to a replacement with a brand new one. You should have no problem getting it replaced and hopefully you won't have the lost movie problem. Defective Boxees often refuse to reset and reflash properly but just tell them it stopped working. The Boxee Box has forced updates and a menu reset option so you are not responsible for flash failures that bork the unit. If the store does refuse to replace it then by all means contact D-link or email Marcel, he's a reasonable guy and can probably help you.
