Default BoxeeMyth App To Integrate MythTV DVR Functions With BoxeeBox

I'm working on an app to bring MythTV 0.25 support to BoxeeBox. Let me know if you are interested in any particular features. It is still in early dev but once I have something alpha I'll post a link for all to have.

    Description:
Boxee Box app leveraging MythTV 0.25 Services API XML interface with HTTP Live Streaming of media to hopefully include LiveTV streams. Full EPG and recordings management.

I just got a silicon dust device and will be setting up mythtv soon, so I would love to see something like this come out!

MythTV services API doesn't track if anyone is still accessing a HLS stream and doesnt' appear to have an expiration for it. So... i would like to have some way to have multiple boxee boxes accessing HLS streams and track who and how many people may be reading the same stream so stale streams aren't sitting around either locking tuners or wasting space.
Can a boxee app write to a cifs share? either the shares already mounted for media files in boxee host or from within the app as a temporary mount? i would like this app to be as user friendly as possible so i would hate to have to have some sort of dependent app or sql calls or something. it would just be easiest to write a file out to a share that all boxees can read. anyone got any ideas?

I'm glad somebody is working on this. I don't have a Mythtv box in place yet, but I have been wanting to for some time. I have been holding out for a Boxee app/frontend though.

yippy skippy! I'm currently using mythlibrarian to make symlinks with good, recognizable names. You have a github?

I do not have a github yet. I want to get the guide working atleast before I put anything out there. Thanks for showing interest. I've been waiting for a long time for a SageTV replacement with cheap frontends and no one seems to be stepping up to plate. Boxee with MythTV will be more than cost effective and feature rich. The MythTV Services API is still very new and the devs have stated that it was kind of rushed out with far less capability than they had planned so we can look forward to more and better capabilities to come out of the API in the future. Until then we should have enough to get started. Multi-Boxee capabilies might be a little complicated unless I can figure a way to establish a cross-Boxee tracking mechanism.

I need to be able to establish a mechanism for tracking data either via writing files to a common storage or mysql via Boxee python. If writing files can happen via the Boxee configured storage locations that would be ideal. If anyone has anything they can contribute I would be most greatful.

Hey Simora, any updates on the progress of this? I purchased a SiliconDust dual tuner on Woot today. Looking forward to this.

Life and responsibilities. Will hopefully get to work on it this weekend. Get the guide fixed up and get something on github. Thanks for following though.

Did you get your MythTV backend up and running? Mythbuntu is what i'm using. has seemed pretty easy and solid.

I haven't set up the backend yet, but I will probably just do a standard Fedora install and install MythTV on top of that for the backend. Still deciding on what hardware to use for that.
