my remote stopped working!

I've had the boxee for a month or so. Just yesterday my remote stopped working
I have tried all the known fixes here and nothing has worked
My question is, is it a pain to get a replacement remote? Is it even the remote or is it the box? I've also read about 3rd party remotes, is that the best option? If so cam someone direct me to a good reliable one. Thanks in advance. Ps the android appp SUUUUCKS!

So you have tried:

1) pairing the remote
2) re-seating the battery
3) turning off the box, removing the power cord, reconnecting and turning the box back on
4) a new battery

amazon.com sells just the remote, most USB wireless/dongle keyboards/mice work, the RF Rii remote is a good replacement, or you can contact D-Link to RMA both the box and the remote (I don't believe they'll RMA just the remote).
