Has anyone installed Boxee successfully on other Linux distros?
Thanks
I installed it on gentoo x64. Crom wrote a gentoo specific guide here:

Thanks, will take a look. Need to install on puppy.
I think the trickiest part of installing on any distribution is going to be getting all of the library dependencies. Ubuntu is easy because apt lets you get all the dependencies quickly and easily. It's easy on gentoo after you know what it calls the packages because portage can do essentially the same thing.
I imagine it will be a bit harder to find puppy packages for a lot of these dependencies, which may mean you'll have to build them the old fashioned way. That's going to take a while for the 50-some dependencies. However, don't get discourages, and be sure to post your results!
Thanks. I willlook into this. May just ending up downgrading Ubuntu into a much smaller distro.
Thanks for your support and suggestions.
I just got it running on archlinux; setup a build script in the AUR called boxee-source which compiles the latest rev and matches it as closely as possible to the ubuntu package
if you wanted a distro with a little more spunk that is...![]()
