Boxee dont start on Ubuntu 8.10

This is what i get, trying to start Boxee from terminal.The screen flash balck for a second but boxee not start!

When I try to launch Boxee a black screen pops up, then I hear a system beep, then it logs me out and tries to auto-login after 30 seconds. Anyone know why this could be happening?

GRAFIC: Nvidia FX 5700 256ram
SOUND : On board
RAM: 1 GB
FIRST HD : 200 GB on SATA PCI controller
2 MORE HD : 250 GB & 160 GB IDE

This worked for me...Compiz was the culprit.

BTW: is there a way that Boxee can turn the eye candy off when loading and then on again when closing? That would be cool.

Works on me to ,but is not the best solution!i hope in future works with compiz too cos Boxee,is a wonderful program!

Agreed. I was having the same failure to launch, and I am running compiz. Is there any other fix for this? I'm not going to disable compiz. It would be fine for a dedicated media box, but I'm running this on a desktop that switches back and forth, and compiz is a must have.
